REIKI therapy and training with JT Therapies is grounded in the original work of Usui that is now reaching the west.
Mikao Usui (1865-1926) developed his system of Reiki primarily as a spiritual path, a way of self-healing and self-development. The treatment of others was secondary to this, despite the fact that Reiki is best known in the west as a complementary therapy.
REIKI is rooted in Mikao Usui's background of Tendai Buddhism, Shintoism (the indigenous religion of Japan) and Shugendo, an esoteric form of Japanese Buddhism. Reiki is, therefore, rooted in very ancient techniques for the cultivation of energy.
Usui also associated with some of the leading martial arts people of his time, such as Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, and this influence is also to be found in the system developed by Usui.
Although Reiki is rooted in ancient religious traditions, to receive or train in Reiki does not require anyone to follow these religions and the practise of Reiki does not conflict with other religions.
Reiki Treatments
Reiki helps to restore energy balance in the body. Reiki will promote healing in an entirely natural way, and will help you to feel less stressed.
Treatments are carried out fully clothed and a full treatment will last for approximately an hour. The majority of people find Reiki deeply relaxing, and some drift off to sleep during the treatment. Because Reiki restores balance, it can be considered for any condition.
Reiki is completely safe: the recipient will draw in whatever energy is required - the therapist is simply a conduit for Reiki energy.
Reiki Training: Why Train with JT Therapies?
Your training with JT Therapies will be in original Japanese Reiki techniques. You will receive Reiju empowerments ('connection' rituals) throughout your training and ongoing distance Reiju and support from me afterwards.
Training is carried out primarily on an individual, ongoing basis.
There are three levels to Reiki training:
- SHODEN (1st Degree)
- OKUDEN (2nd Degree- 'Practitioner')
- SHINPIDEN (3rd Degree- 'Master')
At OKUDEN you will work more specifically with Earth Ki (energy) and Heavenly Ki (energy), and you will learn symbols and their associated mantras to access these energies. This will deepen both your own self-healing and your work with others. You will also learn about, and practise, distant healing. A further symbol and mantra will help you to become 'one' with the recipient, enabling the energy to flow to them.
You will also learn ancient Shinto kotodama, or sacred sound, to tap into these energies.
Your treatment of others will become more intuitive, rather than relying on a pattern of hand positions.
After OKUDEN you will be able to treat others professionally, should you feel drawn to this work. Advice on how to set up a therapy practice will be included in your course.
At SHINPIDEN you will learn a further symbol, mantra, and kotodama. This level enables you to attune and train others in Reiki, and you will learn how to carry out the Japanese Reiju ritual to empower others with Reiki.
Post-Training:
At all levels I will expect you to work with Reiki as appropriate to your level for 2 or 3 weeks after the course. We will then have a follow-up discussion following which you will receive your course certificate.
At each level of training you will receive a comprehensive manual.
